1. Choreographic components must align with the NDCA syllabus. Even though individual Member Organizations within the NDCA possess their unique syllabi, the NDCA’s catalog of permissible figures, elements, and restrictions is intended to maintain an equitable and consistent competition environment for participants of closed syllabus competitions.

2A. Dance Frequency and Level: For Pro/Am or Amateur Couples in American style single dances, each dance may be performed a maximum of 4 times. Any combination of three levels and 2 ages in consecutive order is acceptable, but participants are limited to a specific number of performances. For instance, Waltz – 4 times, Cha Cha – 4 times.

2B. Dance Frequency and Level: For Pro/Am in American style single dances, such as Open Intermediate Bronze, Open Bronze, Open Intermediate Silver, and Open Silver, dancers may perform up to two levels and one age. These levels must be sequential; skipping a level is not permissible. The scheduled days for these levels will be Tuesday and Wednesday, coinciding with the CLOSED LEVELS.

2C. Dance Frequency and Level: For Pro/Am or Amateur Couples in International style single dances, each dance may be performed a maximum of 3 times. Any combination of 2 levels and 2 ages is permissible, but participants are limited to a specific number of performances. For instance, Waltz – 3 times, Cha Cha – 3 times.

  1. The Age Divisions for Pro/Am & Student/Student dances are as follows:

TB: up to 6, PT1: 7-9, PT2: 10-11, JR1: 12-13, JR2: 14-15, YA: 16-18, A1: 16-35, A2: 36-50, B1: 51-60, B2: 61-70, C1: 71-80, C2: 81-over.

Participants may only enter one age category in these divisions.

  1. Scholarship Entries: For each scholarship competition, participants must perform a minimum of 5 (or 4 for smooth) single dances in the corresponding style to qualify.

4A. World Pro/Am Dancesport Series: Entrants can only select one level and one age in each style. Lower levels than single dance participation are not permissible for scholarship entries. Open scholarship events are unisex and open to all levels.

4B. World Pro/Am Dancesport Series Master 1-4: Entrants must meet the age requirements for the selected division. Age eligibility criteria are contingent solely on the amateur participant’s status.

  1. Men’s Smooth & Rhythm Championships and Latin Scholarship: Entrants may only select one age category. For Men’s Ballroom Championships, entrants can select one age category and two sequential levels. Note: Men’s Ballroom events will be hosted in a different ballroom from the Bronze and Silver Ballroom Championships.
  2. Pro/Am American Rising Star: Limited to students who have not been finalists in the DanceSport Series Scholarships A, B, or C at any prior Ohio Star Ball or winners of this division in the preceding year. Only the initial 28 entries per division and age will be accepted due to time restrictions.
  3. Pro/Am International Closed Bronze, Silver, and Gold: Participants may only compete in one age and one level per style. Due to time restrictions, only the initial 28 entries per division and age will be accepted.
  4. World Dancesport Series Pro/Am 9 and 10: Participants must maintain the same instructor for all dances. For example, smooth and rhythm cannot be performed with different instructors.
